The Prairie Ag facility is a 6,400 square foot state-of-the-art building that provides students with opportunities to learn about agriculture, food, and natural resources on a 155-acre farm site located just north of Prairie High School. The facility contains a science classroom, ICC-500 storm shelter, and a greenhouse.
The pre-engineered facility was designed to exceed energy code minimums for envelope performance, lighting/electrical use, water use, and heating/cooling requirements.
The HHE team collaborated closely with College Community School District and chosen vendors to ensure that the building and site elements worked well within the natural landscape while maximizing sustainability and green initiatives.
In conjunction with this project, HHE completed the design for the installation of a pedestrian underpass of 76th Ave SW to link the high school campus with the new Ag facility. This allows a safe passage between the campuses by avoiding the high traffic on 76th Ave. This underpass required a significant amount of utility relocations and coordination with Franchise Utility Companies.
