The civil design for this 179-acre development was led by Hall & Hall Engineers, Inc. (HHE). The Dows Farm Agri-Community thoughtfully integrates natural landscapes and a small-scale sustainable farm with a series of residential neighborhoods; creating a place where residents can maintain a strong connection to the land, local food, outdoor activity, and nature.
HHE’s team played a key role in translating the project’s vision and objectives into a cohesive and functional design. Key strategies included reducing pavement widths to lower vehicle speeds, shortening pedestrian crossing distances, minimizing environmental impacts, and decreasing long-term maintenance costs. In addition, curb, gutter, and stormwater piping were minimized in favor of Low Impact Development (LID) practices, such as bioretention and low-volume, low-velocity stormwater conveyance systems, resulting in a more sustainable and environmentally responsible infrastructure.
