Hall & Hall Engineers (HHE) was retained to perform the civil engineering services for the Kingston Yard Mixed Use Development just west of the Cedar Rapids downtown. The project, being around 5 acres, took a multiple phase approach to development.
HHE assisted the Developer to ignite the drive to revitalize this 2008 flood devastated neighborhood through this mixed use development. HHE was responsible to coordinate with three architects tasked to design various components of the project including a parking garage, hotel and mixed-use space. HHE’s primary responsibilities included:
Floodplain permitting
Coordination with utility laden site
Coordination with 4-6 buildings at various stages of construction
Public street and alley vacations
Underground storm water management
Streetscape design including coordination with the adjacent 1st Avenue reconstruction project, coordination with City Floodwall improvements which included new alignment, profile and geometry of 1st Street
Topographic and boundary survey, construction staking, final platting and pre-construction ALTA Surveys
