Edgewood Rd & Blairs Ferry Rd NE Access Modifications

HHE began working with the City of Cedar Rapids on this multi-phase project as part of the site improvements for the Edgewood Town Centre development that included the new Fleet Farm.  This first project brought two new public street connections to the west side of Edgewood Road NE that converted existing T-intersections to four-legged intersections.  In conjunction with the requirements of the City and in accordance with the traffic analysis completed by HHE, the southern intersection was converted to a back-to-back 3/4 access and the northern access was converted from a right-in/right-out access to a signalized intersection.    

The second phase of this project included pavement reconstruction and widening through the intersection of Edgewood Road and Blairs Ferry Road to  improve traffic flow and in preparation for future Edgewood Road extension to the north.    

The final phase of this project includes constructing a new street connection with a signalized intersection from Blairs Ferry Road into the Fountains development.  It also included design of a new raised median along Blairs Ferry Road to improve the safety of access into this development.
