This large, multi-phase project included 5,700 feet of new pavement construction, 5,500 feet of storm sewer, 4,800 feet of sanitary sewer, and 2,700 feet of water main along with many other design aspects improving roadway function, user safety, and aesthetic value. Roadway improvements included a new four-lane divided roadway with raised medians, on-street bike lanes, a sidewalk, and a 10-foot-wide trail extending the Grant Wood Trail into the heart of the City. The project also included the design of two new roundabouts, one traffic signal, and a complete landscaping plan with roadway lighting. A particular emphasis was placed on creating a low-maintenance design that could be implemented consistently across the entire corridor.
