Hall & Hall Engineers (HHE) worked on the 2013 two-phase Cedar Rapids Convention Center complex project as a part of the multidisciplinary team of design professionals.
The first phase included the demolition of the former Armstrong department store and the White Parking Ramp, vacating of a section of 3rd St. SE, and the removal of various utilities. This created a blank slate site for the second phase of construction and renovation.
The second phase created a 471,000-SF complex with a new convention center, a renovated US Cellular arena, and a rebranded convention center hotel. The complex serves as the centerpiece of Cedar Rapids’ rebirth from the devastating 2008 floods.
