Unusual for a sports field complex, the site’s elevation varies by forty-five (45) feet. Hall & Hall Engineers (HHE) created several grading design iterations to minimize retaining walls and still maintain adequate site drainage.
The project’s tight timeline necessitated a change in scope from a “traditional” design into “design-build” midway through. HHE, then, worked closely with the ownership group to identify and hire a general contractor and prioritize the design activities. This allowed the majority of the site work to be completed at the critical deadlines, thus condensing the project schedule.
HHE designed the lake to capture stormwater for storage and irrigation, and double as an amenity. Several elevated viewing plazas were designed into the site topography, which provides unobstructed views over the fields.
