Cedar Rapids Community Schools - Maple Grove Elementary

Hall & Hall Engineers (HHE) provided full civil engineering design and land surveyor services for this elementary school campus. The project is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on 10 acres and includes a new 60,000 SF building. HHE provided preliminary site analysis and due diligence of this property when the Cedar Rapids School Board was assessing this property for the new elementary school. Once it was determined that the existing school building located on the parcel could be maintained while construction of the new building, HHE provided the complete civil engineering design which included site layout, grading, drainage, utility services (water, sanitary sewer, natural gas, power) and earth work quantity calculations. Land surveyor services included topographic and boundary survey, final platting and construction staking. The steep slope topography of this property was particularly challenging to be able to create a large, flat area for the large building and the parking lot while keeping the existing school in operation. Once completed, the older smaller school was demolished making way for completion of the parking lot for the new school.
