At Hall & Hall Engineers Inc. we find creative solutions through our integrated land development, land surveying and municipal services. We have professionals who are licensed in Iowa, Kansas, Illinois, and other states, where we enhance the region’s infrastructure and greatly improve the quality of life in in the Midwest.
Since 1953 Hall & Hall Engineers has provided services to Iowa communities. With a team of experienced project managers and multi-disciplinary technical staff, we provide our municipalities a range of services required to successfully plan and design complex projects. In addition to our licensed engineers and surveyors, we assist communities with construction inspections, wetland delineation and mitigation, Geographic Information Systems, and certified flood plain management.
Under the leadership of Shane Wicks, P.E., HHE is the trusted advisor of Iowa communities. We manage capital improvements, develop design standards, establish Geographic Information Systems, and assist with permitting and zoning. HHE’s landscape architects apply artistic principles and technical design standards to enhance every project that we produce. Many of our competitors struggle to integrate their landscape architects into the design team. Through our team approach all of our projects have input from a landscape architect, ensuring our designs are not only technically sound but livable and enjoyed.
Hall & Hall’s Landscape Architects collaborate with engineers, planners and scientists to develop context sensitive design solutions. That is, solutions that marry site improvements with respect for the surrounding land forms, the environment and our client’s needs.
Our design work ranges from municipal parks and playgrounds to residential communities to institutional facilities. The variety in our client base has provided us with a broad range of experience in unique design elements ranging from healing gardens to urban skate parks to woodland trails. These services and the superior quality of product we deliver have gained us national recognition and respect for our work.

Hall & Hall’s Land Surveyors combine the latest surveying equipment with decades of experience. We can field four crews at any time and all of our surveying work is supervised by a licensed land surveyor. Our crews use the latest in robotics surveying equipment, and both static and Real Time Kinematic GPS. A “one-man-survey-crew” can collect pre-engineering topographic survey data while another is out staking construction sites. The un-manned instrument allows flexibility by:
- tracking the surveyor’s prism pole throughout the site. Over the years, we have found that using the robotic stations in combination with GPS control has been a huge benefit to both the quality and efficiency of our surveying projects.
