Center Point-Urbana High School
center point, IA
Hall & Hall Engineers provided the master planning, landscape architecture, civil design and construction services and administration for the new high school. Site design for the thirty-three-acre parcel included bus & parent drop off drives, roadways, staff and student parking, athletic fields, stormwater management, utility connections and associated improvements.
Traffic calming was also part the design, reducing speeds and increasing protection of pedestrians. The building design included permanent dewatering techniques.
Open space was planted with native prairie grass, promoting infiltration and reduce watering demands. Plant species selected for site landscaping are also hardy and require low-maintenance. An automated irrigation system was not provided for the site and a detention basin impounds rain runoff and reducing the 100-year post developed discharge to an ecological five-year pre-developed rate.

CPU INDUSTRIAL ARTS BUILDING
CENTER POINT, IA
Hall & Hall Engineers (HHE) worked in conjunction with an architecture firm for Center Point-Urbana’s new 7,000-SF High School Industrial Tech Facility. Located northeast of the High School, the facility houses the enlarged industrial arts/tech department, another example of CPU’s commitment to education.
HHE also worked on the engineering for a new parking lot and sidewalk connecting the facility to the high school, allowing easy access for students.
Another component of this project required HHE to design site grading layout for a future high school auditorium to be constructed in close proximity to both the Industrial tech facility and the high school.
